Isotropic Linear Constitutive Relations for Nonsimple Fluids

چکیده
We investigate the general constitutive relation of an isotropic linear fluid when the stress tensor can depend on higher-order spatial gradients of the velocity. We apply the results to the case of second-grade and thirdgrade fluids, be compressible or not. However, the expression of the general isotropic tensor can be a matter of interest also for other classes of nonsimple materials.

Stationary and evolutionary flows of nonsimple second order fluids: existence and uniqueness
In this paper we introduce a particular class of nonsimple fluids of second order. Within the general framework of virtual powers, we deduce the dynamical equation for linear isotropic incompressible fluids. Afterwards, existence and uniqueness results are obtained for both the stationary flow and the evolutionary one, with non homogeneous boundary conditions. Mathematics Subject Classification...
متن کاملGeneralized Fractional Derivative Anisotropic Viscoelastic Characterization
Isotropic linear and nonlinear fractional derivative constitutive relations are formulated and examined in terms of many parameter generalized Kelvin models and are analytically extended to cover general anisotropic homogeneous or non-homogeneous as well as functionally graded viscoelastic material behavior. Equivalent integral constitutive relations, which are computationally more powerful, ar...
متن کاملComparison of results from four linear constitutive relations in isotropic "nite elasticity
We use four linear constitutive relations to study "nite deformations of a biaxially loaded elastic membrane, triaxially loaded cube, and simple extensional and simple shearing deformations of an elastic body. In each case, the body is assumed to be isotropic and homogeneous. It is shown that only the neoHookean relation (a linear relation between the Cauchy stress tensor and the left Cauchy}Gr...
متن کاملDispresion Analysis in a Fluid–Filled and Immersed Transversely Isotropic Thermo–Electro–Elastic Hollow Cylinder
The dispersion analysis in a fluid filled and immersed thermo–electro elastic hollow cylinder composed of homogeneous, transversely isotropic material is studied within the frame work of linear theory of elasticity. The motions of the cylinder are formulated using the constitutive equations of a transversely isotropic piezo–thermo elastic material with a preferred material direction collinear w...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Characterization of Chiral Media
During recent decades, a great variety of novel and complex materials have been designed with promising practical applications. It has been found, however, that in many cases the relations between electric and magnetic fields cannot be described by standard constitutive equations. Among these new materials we may mention, for example, chiral, nonreciprocal, gyrotropic and negative refractive in...
